The Vicar's Bedroom is the only room in the Palace to maintain its original wood panelling, dating back to 1539 and still releasing its pleasant scent.
The choice of the material was due to practical reasons more than aestheic needs. The wood panelling absorbs moisture and gives more warmth to the room.
The coffered ceiling is decorated with musician angels and laurel wreaths, symbols of glory and wisdom. The image of VNITAS in the middle of the ceiling, surrounded by palm and laurel branches, states the political programme of Bernardo Clesio, prince bishop of Trento from 1514 to 1539.
